Rad or Ridiculous? Think before you buy those shades!

Designer sunglasses improve your appearanceRemember those t-shirts, so many __________, so little time? That is SO true for designer sunglasses. It is just too tempting to go out and buy multiple pairs, because you saw Jen Anniston had a pair of these cool white ones, and Brittany Spears had a pair like those other awesome pink ones. The choices are endless! Choosing shades based solely on what the celebs are wearing is a bad idea, however, because those celebs aren’t you, and what they wear may be completely wrong for you and your life.

After comfort and fit, the most important thing to consider is why you want the sunglasses. Are you going for a certain look? Are these going to be your primary, wear-every-day shades, or are they meant to go with one outfit? Are you concerned about protecting your retinas and/or the sensitive skin around the eye area, or is fashion your main concern? These are all things to consider so you can choose the right shades. No matter what you purchase or how much you pay, you want to get a lot of fun and pleasure out of your new glasses. Failing to consider how you will use them will pretty much guarantee they will just junk up one of your drawers.

The other thing you want to consider is the shape of your face. Sunglasses that looked great on one person may be a nightmare for another. For a classic example from the 1980’s, the Ray Bans that looked so incredible on Tom Cruise in Risky Business, made Ric Ocasek of The Cars look like a giant insect. It’s all about face shape. Remember to choose shades that are made for your face, and consider how and when you will wear them, and you can’t go wrong.
